A race against time

Title Research’s recent missing beneficiary search proved to be a real life race against time, with our specialist genealogists being asked to trace the family of a recently deceased man as part of a highly time-sensitive case.
Our client was a solicitor who required our expert assistance to locate the deceased’s children. As the family had become estranged, the deceased’s body was being held for a short period of time in a mortuary in the hope that his children would be located.
We quickly identified that there had been various name changes within the family, which is why previous attempts to locate them had drawn a blank. Through utilising our comprehensive research databases, we were able to successfully identify that the deceased man had three children by two women. Having identified them, we were then able to trace the three children, one of whom had already passed away.
Our rapid work meant that our client was able to make contact with the deceased’s sons just in time for them to attend the funeral and lay their father to rest.
Simon Barber, Operations Manager at Title Research said: “This particularly time critical case was quite a unique one, even for our team of experienced genealogists. We were really pleased to be able to find the children of the man in question, so that they at least had the opportunity to formally say goodbye to their father. With such a tight deadline to meet, there was absolutely no room for error.”
